Gemini Dates of Birth
Is Your Zodiac Sign Really Gemini?
Usually, people born between May 21 and June 20 have Gemini as their sun sign, because that is the Zodiac sign where the sun was at their birth. But it differs a little from year to year, because of the leap years.
The Leap Year BumpIn astrology, your Gemini Zodiac sign (also called sun sign or star sign) is decided by the position of the sun at the moment of your birth, as seen from Earth. The sun takes a year to travel through the twelve Zodiac signs, but it's not exactly a year of 365 days. The time it takes is closer to 365.25 days. That's why we have leap years.
Ephemeris, table of planetary positions, from the Renaissance.
The leap years make the dates of each Zodiac sign change slightly. Normally, Gemini starts on May 21 and ends on June 20, but that's just the mean. In reality it changes slightly in a four year period from one leap year to the next.
Here are the leap years since the beginning of the 20th century:
If you were born on the 21st of May or the 21st of June, you have to check if you're really a Gemini or not. It never differs more than a day in each direction. The start of Gemini must be within the 20th to 21st of May, and the end of it is mostly on the 21st of June. People born on other dates need not be concerned.
Cusp or notIf you were born on May 20th or 21st, your sun may be on the very cusp (the starting point) of Gemini, or right by the end of Taurus. If you were born on the 21st of June, your sun might be at the very end of Gemini or at the cusp of Cancer.
You need to check with the Zodiac Sign Calculator (see the link below) or your exact horoscope, because on those dates it depends on what time of day you were born - and in what place.
It's particularly important with this check If you were born far away from Greenwich, England, since that's the base for the dates given for Gemini.

Mixed Zodiac SignsNow, If you were born on May 21st at a time when your sun is at the very end of Taurus, you probably have a mixture of Taurus and Gemini in your character. It's a Taurus inclined to be more of a Gemini. If your sun is at the very start (cusp) of Gemini, though, you're definitely a Gemini - and a firm one at that.
If your sun is at the very end of Gemini, you may show personality traits of both Gemini and Cancer, but If you were born at the very start of Cancer, no matter how early in it, you're most definitely a Cancer.
That's because each sign is the most powerful at its beginning, its cusp.
Decans Make a DifferenceThe strongest is not equal to the most typical, though. A Zodiac sign is its most typical at the part of it (decan) corresponding to its quality: cardinal, fixed or mutable.
Each Zodiac sign belongs to one of the four elements fire, earth, air, and water. It's also one of the three qualities. So, four elements and three qualities make twelve possible combinations - the twelve signs of the Zodiac.
Gemini is the mutable air sign. That means its most typical part is the last one - the ten degrees making its third decan, 20°-30° Gemini. That corresponds approximately to the dates June 11-21. If your birth date is within this range, you're likely to be a very typical Gemini.
If you were born on late May, the 21st to 31st, you're still a Gemini, but with character traits comparable to those of Libra (the cardinal air sign). If you were born on June 1st to 10th, you have some tendencies similar to those of Aquarius (the fixed air sign).
But the most important thing to decide is what sign you are. So, If you were born on May 20th-21st or June 21st, please check with the Zodiac Sign Calculator (see the link below), or get your complete horoscope chart, to be sure of your star sign.
