Global panic ensued about a decade ago when NASA first announced that the star signs changed to include a new, 13th zodiac sign called Ophiuchus. And for about 50 years, the Gray Lady (The New York Times) <\/em>has, rather exhaustively, attempted to discredit astrology. But don’t believe the new zodiac sign hype! You’re still the same astrology sign you’ve always been, whether it’s NASA, the newspaper of record or a TikToker telling you otherwise, and here’s why.<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Constellation constipation? <\/strong>The world got its collective knickers in a knot several years ago when NASA published a post<\/a> claiming that the star signs changed due to the Earth’s wobbling axis and shifting constellations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not to be outdone, The New York Times, <\/em>which every several years publishes an article attempting to discredit astrology, released a new one in September 2025<\/a> (with beautiful graphics, we can admit!), but with the same-old tropes (and, if you read far enough, some contradictions that land the whole piece disproving their point).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It really makes us wonder why mainstream media is so hellbent on taking shots at astrology, particularly when more people than ever follow astrology, certainly some of their readers (like us!) A recent Pew Research Center study found that 30% of Americans consult astrology<\/a>, Tarot<\/a> cards and other New Age practices for life guidance. [Shugs<\/em>.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We first wrote about this phenomenon in 2016, when The Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/a> brought the “new zodiac sign” subject into the headlines with fervor. In the summer of 2020, peak pandemic, we saw sensational headlines all over the internet about “a new star sign.” In the post-pandemic years, TikToks abound with the latest version of “your zodiac sign has shifted.” We recommend you enjoy these articles and TikToks for their entertainment value, but don’t buy into the misinformation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the world’s skeptics and horoscope-haters and debaters rejoice, astrologers everywhere know it’s all a cosmic crock\u2014there is not a new zodiac sign.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
